All about the Heartland
Camp Quality Heartland was founded in 1994 by volunteers in the Council Bluffs / Omaha area. Our first camp was held in 1995 with eight children in attendance. In summer 2007 we served sixty seven children.

What is the Camp Organizing Committee?
The Camp Organizing Committee (COC) is a dedicated group of volunteers that meets monthly throughout the year to plan Camp Quality Heartland Activities.

What activities are planned?
Swimming, canoeing, fishing, dancing, teathered hot air balloon rides, archery and crafts!!
What medical personnel will be on site?
Five pediatric/adult oncology nurses with a total of 65 years experience & a flight nurse with 20 years of trauma experience. A local physician is available for emergencies.
Are any of the staff paid?
No, they are all volunteers.
How are the staff selected?
Volunteers are interviewed by our Companion Coordinators, and must attend a mandatory group training session prior to camp. All applicants must submit three references and agree to a background check.
How much does it cost to attend camp?
Nothing. The camp is free.
May siblings attend the camp?
Yes, provided there is space available.
What other activities does Camp Quality Heartland provide?
A reunion in the fall, a quarterly newsletter, a Winter Teen Camp, and a Family Camp (in development).
